Welcome to FIDESUR

The South Southeast region of Mexico – made up of the states of Campeche, Chiapas, Guerrero, Oaxaca, Puebla, Quintana Roo, Tabasco, Veracruz and Yucatán – is one of the richest and most diverse in the country, and concentrates almost a third of the population. However, it is the least developed region, with low economic growth and a very important challenge in terms of wealth distribution.

In this context FIDESUR , whose purpose is to contribute to the construction of a shared regional vision, as well as to define a strategy for the integral development of the region, contributing so that governments and public, private and social institutions act in a coordinated manner in the identification of problem and opportunity areas.

Since its start-up in 2002, FIDESUR has promoted and financed more than 290 projects of various kinds. currently working on the implementation of 6 initiatives: attraction of foreign investment and insertion of local economies in selected global value chains; promotion of short sea shipping services ; strategy for the recovery and development of coffee growing areas; regional strategy for adaptation to climate change ; project portfolios for interurban link infrastructure and rural-urban integration; and regional promotion of sustainable tourism.
